Kade Scivicque named 1st Team All-State

Johnny McKenzie and Zach Rowell selected 2nd Team

 
Southwest baseball standout Kade Scivicque capped his freshman season in Summit by being named 1st Team All-State at the recent meeting of the MACJC’s baseball coaches.
 
Scivicque, a catcher/pitcher from Maurepas (LA) High School, led the Bears with a .333 batting average, an on-base percentage of .430 and a slugging percentage of .515. He tied for the team lead in doubles with 10 while having a team-best five homers and 27 RBI’s.
 
Named 2nd Team All-State from Southwest were sophomores Johnny McKenzie (IF) and right-handed pitcher Zach Rowell. McKenzie, from Tylertown High School, was second on the team in hitting with a .307 batting average. He led the team in several offensive categories including hits (47) and was tied for the lead with 30 runs scored.
 
 Rowell, a McComb high school graduate, finished his career at Southwest as the top pitcher on the staff in 2012 by posting a 6-3 record and an earned run average of 2.66 while holding opposition hitters to a .228 batting average.
